BAD PITCHING AND NO OFFENSE DOES IN THE DEFENDING NL CHAMPIONS AT HOME!

 

4 HITS IS INEXCUSABLE AND FOR THE 3RD STRAIGHT GAME THE PHILLIES BATS DO NOTHING …

 

THE NATIONALS STEPHEN STRASBURG MAKES A MOCKERY OF THE VAUNTED LINE UP IN JUST 5 INNINGS. THEN A CRAPPY TO MEDIOCRE BULLPEN FINISHES THE JOB.

Look I am not upset that the Phillies lost. Good teams lose. Sure I was hoping they would win and cash in on the Braves and Giants losing but this is why you play the games. But Saturday night was an embarrassment and unacceptable. Kendrick proves why he doesn’t get it and the O-FFENSE was offensive and a joke.

 

 

Okay, maybe it would be easier to swallow the 4 hits had Strasburg lasted 8 or 9 innings. But he didn’t! And 2 of the 4 hits came off of the young phenom! In fact the only run you scored was off the young star. Are you kidding me?

 

 

You had Utley back, Howard back, Polanco, and Victorino all playing at the same time and you can’t score more than 1 run? And why is Werth not playing in this game? Yes Brown is a lefty and Strasburg is a righty. Of course Brown has faced Strasburg when the 2 were in the Double A Eastern League at the same time so perhaps there is credence to that. But this was a big game when you look at it. And you have another garbage team coming into town for 4 games. Werth could easily take Monday off with right hander Brett Myers going for the Astros.

 

 

Well that is a moot point anyway. Even without WErth and doing the textbook left vs righty match up you had plenty of firepower and you came up extremely small. And again this is lame because this is the 3rd straight night you pulled this routine!

• 0 for 8 with men in scoring position !

• 3 of your hits were doubles

• Rollins had a double but also looked very immature at the plate at times. 0 for 1 with RISP

• Polanco had a double and 0 for 2 with RISP

• Utley had a walk

• Howard returns and has a hit and an RBI but was 0 for 2 with RISP

• Ibanez who also looked like a rookie at times at the plate did walk once

• Francisco had a lead off double and got ignored as he was left picking his nose at 3rd as he watched his teammates fail to do anything after him: Actually this was the lowest part of the game for me. Francisco is at 2nd with no outs and then Rollins hits a lame ground out. Then Polanco hits a lame grounder to the pitcher and the pitcher totally gaks it and Polanco is safe at first and Ben is at 3rd with 1 out! You think Utley and/or Howard could get him home? NO!

• Howard’s RBI was his 82nd on the year

 

 

KENDRICK aka MR HYDE:

 

He should retire right now. A kid 3 years younger then him and far less minor league experience totally out pitched him. Kendrick was lost all night and continues to repeat the same mistakes he has made in the past over, over and over again. That is pathetic. Look no one expects you to be perfect or have no room for bad games but his pattern is ridiculous. He is either very good or horrific. Oh sure he had a couple easy innings but even in those innings he missed his spots far too many times!

Pitching is location, location, and location and knowing how to mix speeds and pitches. What makes Strasburg electric? Not just his great pitches but his ability to put them where they should be consistently! He missed a few but he was around the plate all night! And when he misses it isn’t right down the middle of the plate. Although even that will happen occasionally. With Kendrick though it happens at least a few times each game!

 

 

“Hey Kyle if you have any future at being a respected MLB pitcher you need to get this through your thick skull and discipline yourself to make it happen. You are allowed off nights brother, but they should not be so drastically different than your good nights. Except for the occasional and inevitable clunker. Get with it man or get out of the way!”

 

 

And side note: DURBIN IS OVER WORKED! Of course I never, ever want to see Baez pitch but if he is taking up a roster spot then you should have used him for this futile effort of a game.

 

 

So is it over? Honestly it does not look good. 

 

• As of Monday August 16. 2010  you were 66 and 51 with 45 games left.  

• The Braves 69 and 49 with 44 games left

• WE figured out that if the Braves maintained their present winning percentage they would go 26 and 18 or 25 and 19

• That means that the Phillies would have to go 30 and 15 or 29 and 16 to tie or win the NL EAST by 1 game!

• Since Monday the Phillies are 3 and 2 and the Braves went 4 and 2 (The Braves played Monday)

• Thus this week you gained nothing on the Braves between Mon and Saturday
