Turn Out The Lights Sweet Darlin’(Eagles Loss Jan 9)

Eagles go down in flames as Dallas literally laughed them off the field and out of Texas.

Even though there is no question that Andy Reid has been very successful, there is also no doubt that he is very narrow minded in his approach. It bit him in the buttocks for 2 straight games.

The problems are glaring, even Chris Collingsworth was openly criticizing it on national television. And others with credentials have pointed out the obvious and Reid still knows better than the rest of the known universe.

The irony is I think it is just a matter of him excepting his mistakes. The worst part is there are times he does give in and is more successful. By now I know that everyone in the Delaware Valley and beyond know what I am talking about. It’s called running the football!

Hey Andy and Marty I warned you what would happen if you repeated the same sorry offensive game-plan. You didn’t fool anybody but yourself. Yeah changed things up a bit but you still abandoned the run before you arrived at the stadium. Somewhere between the french toast and pancakes you look at the orange juice and said “Oh my God we better throw the ball!”

And for the 10 millionth time I will repeat, I am not suggesting that you have to run more than you pass or even run and pass the same amount of times. But you cannot win important games when you pass 3 or more times than amount you pass. For one thing that is usually a sign that you are getting your butt kicked. However anyone who watches the Eagles knows that is not why Andy throws 65 to 70% of the time.

In fact it his reluctance to run that gets his team in trouble. Opponents basically dare them to run, knowing they won’t. To make matters worse that only makes it even harder for you to throw to the best weapons you have had at wide receiver in forever. The problem is DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin need match ups. Yes they are very fast, especially Jackson. But they are also very small and capable of being physically manhandled. No disrespect fellows but you will never be a Moss or a T.O. NEVER, EVER!

And yet Andy acts like they are. Jackson and Maclin are not going to man up DB’s and nickel packages. Now one on one they can toast pretty much anyone. But because you don’t run the ball no one has to guard your diminutive wide outs one on one. And you know this.

The reason I know you know this is because while Brian Westbrook was out you decided that perhaps you should run a little more. Yes without your best running back you run more! What? Nevertheless you rattled of 6 wins! Maybe becuase they were bad teams? That helps. But we will never know for sure because come crunch time you go into your throw, throw, throw mood.

Did you not see the Cowboys were openly laughing at you on the field? And again part of the problem was your O-line never had a chance to get some cohesion. Reason number 437 why you run the ball more consistantly. It would help your QB also. In order to have a play action the other team has to believe you may actually run the ball. In order to get one on one on the outside the other team actually has to feel it needs help to stop the run. Oh and I heard somehwere that running may help take some time away from the other team.

Your O-line got schooled. Up the middle especially. And speaking of schooled …………….

Your defense was a joke. You secondary is in shambles. Of course injuries ruined your line-backing and secondary as a whole but really can anyone tackle on this team. Macho Harris is a fraud. He tries the old cowardly lion hit the legs hard approach. Wrap somebody up Macho!

Oh and Sean McDermott. If your game plan is to give Dallas the quick outs and underneath stuff, you should tell your worthless defenders they need to tackle the receiver within a yard or two of catching what you are giving them. And if you do not know what I am talking about watch the film of the Dallas defense and what they did to the Eagles receivers.

Your best corner Samuel had no help over top. Sheldon Brown was trying to make plays from his knees as he got faked out his socks. Not too mention he is playing with one leg. Which I still do not understand. If a Sheldon obviously hurt is better than your back ups that tells me all I need to know.

And Donovan? I really don’t know what to say anymore about McNabb. Frankly let the man go to a team that is more stable up front and runs the ball more. Let Kolb take over. He makes decisions faster anyhow. I never thought McNabb was the quick throw kind of guy and that is what the Eagles offense is predicated on. McNabb is more like Roethlisberger or even Favre. Hold on to the ball until you find the perfect open man. Hey if Favre wins and retires, again, then McNabb should go to Minnesota.

In the meantime …………………………………….?
