AHH! Eagles Got Landed (Eagles Nov 9)

   An other Eagles lethargic loss. This time 20 to 16 to COWGIRLS! AT HOME!

OKAY So the game had it’s moments but this was a snooze-fest for me.  On paper it would appear to have been a defensive struggle. I didn’t see that at all. Oh there were some good defensive plays. But I saw 2 QB’s play poorly and mismanage a poorly called game-plan.

Neither team did much with the ball. Both teams for the most part just kept chucking and running the spaghetti against the wall offense. Yeah the whatever sticks philosophy. I saw no method to the madness.

For example the Cowboys had a chance to score a TD at the end of the first half. They had 1st and goal and ran the shot gun on all 3 plays before kicking a field goal. Not even remotely thinking or pretending to think of throwing the ball. WHAT???????????????? Talk about helping the defense.

And despite that the Eagles did not have a better approach. They threw the ball 30 times and ran it 23 times. They were not particularly good at either. Although the running game had more production and appeared to have a chance to be successful had they done it more. When they had people downfield the O Line couldn’t sustain a block long enough to finish the job. Jason Peters who was supposed to be a big time acquisition did not have a good night. Not that McNabb was that great either.

Oh and the lack of urgency from Reid to McNabb on down is straight up pathetic and sickening to watch. The Eagles look like the 7 dwarfs sometime “whistling while they work”! 

For crying outloud can we step it up a bit ANDY and DON?

The Eagles defense had some quality downs but they are inconsistent. They allowed the Cowboys to go 7 for 15 on 3rd down for one. They had 4 sacks but they had too many blown coverages.

General Stuff

• Both teams were penalized way too much. I did think the Eagles got jobbed on Ellis Hobbs apparent return for a TD.
• If the Eagles had just converted another TD they could have won this blah game.
• Can we stop with the Michael Vick plays and admit they are a colossal waste of time?
• McCoy and Weaver were having some success, why didn’t they try a little more of that?

• The O line needs work. I have always believe if you run, run, and then run and pass the O line will gel faster. Lineman get an attitude when they run block.
• The above statement will never happen as long as Andy Reid is breathing!

 

Oh well at least the Giants choked.  And the NFL got what it wanted, the Cowboys are relevant for a few weeks.
