EAGLES:RE-CAP (9/15)

The game 1 win over Carolina was a great start for the Birds. Especially when you factor in this was a road win. Heading into the game the banged up Eagles front was going to face it’s first real test as a patched up unit. Playing Carolina actually was good for that.

Based on what I have seen and what the guru’s say, Carolina relies heavily on the front four to produce pressure and uses the cover 2 quite a lot. Which means they use more people in the secondary. Now this is a good thing for an O-line just getting some time together because you basically know where the rush is coming from. There are very few disguised blitzes, in fact Carolina does not blitz much at all.

As a result the Eagles O line did fairly well overall. They did allow 2 sacks. Where they did their best was in an area the Eagles have long been suspect. They rushed for 185 yards. And they went to the right and to the left.

Over looked because of the spanking the Eagles put on the Panthers was McNabb did not have a very good game. Now he did have some early balls dropped but 10 for 18 and 79 yards is lame. He did have 2 TD passes though. But a 4.4 yards per attempt is not going to cut it. The injury only makes things worse.

No surprise they sign Jeff Garcia for some insurance. The timing on that worked out good for the Eagles. I suppose Kolb will get some work this week but McNabb says he is playing. We’ll see as the week continues.
