And the crowd roars and Lake Placid shakes like a Frisco Quake!
On Wednesday in the Bronx the Phillies need to steal a page out of this legendary event. And somewhat because of who they are playing and where. Hey I despise the fact but it is a fact. Baseball starts with the New York Yankees and you are a fool if you don’t get that.
But the other and more important fact is that the Phillies are right there toe to toe, roster to roster with the NY juggernaut. It’s a question of whether they honestly believe that. Oh they say they do but I saw a look on Saturday and Sunday I have never seen from this bunch. Oh and the Yankees? Yeah well they believe …… no make that “they know” they are going to win.
Not to be corny but this really does remind me of the Miracle on Ice. Game 6 is the game vs the mighty Russians. It is the game the US had to win to get to the Gold Medal game. Game 7 will be the Gold Medal game!
So I thought I would re-call the Herb Brooks speech and tweak it a bit. And hey maybe since Kurt Russell has been on hand the Phillies could get him to deliver it. Although I would love to hear Charlie’s version. So anyway here we go! My tweaks will be in Charlie language.

I’m sick and tired of hearin’ about what a great hockey team the Soviets have.

But I’m even sicker of the love fest with the New York Yankees and the 26 Rings and the $200 billion, their crappy cheese cake, Ellis Island, the Empire State building, Broadway, the UN, Madison Square Garden, Jeter Jeter pumpkin eater, A-Fraud, Babe Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, DiMaggio, Reggie, the wisdom of Yogi, the lame NY Post and the Kate Hudson River!
