Eagles win 30 to 27 in an important game with heavy implications. And that is a good thing. Let’s break it down some.

  • Held Broncos to 241 total yards and 13 first downs
  • Philadelphia Passing
C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT RATING
    D. McNabb 20/35 322 9.2 3 1 104.7
  • Philadelphia Rushing
      CAR YDS AVG TD LG
    B. Westbrook 9 32 3.6 0 9
    D. McNabb 5 29 5.8 0 27
    L. McCoy 6 27 4.5 0 11
    L. Weaver 7 20 2.9 0 5
    D. Jackson 1 -3 -3.0 0 0
    Team 28 105 3.8 0 27
  • Philadelphia Receiving
REC YDS AVG TD LG TGTS
    B. Celek 4 121 30.3 1 47 5
    J. Maclin 6 92 15.3 0 27 10
    L. McCoy 1 39 39.0 0 39 1
    D. Jackson 4 33 8.3 1 11 10
    J. Avant 2 25 12.5 1 15 2
    R. Brown 1 7 7.0 0 7 1
    B. Westbrook 2 5 2.5 0 6 5
    L. Weaver 0 0 0.0 0 0 1
    Team 20 322 16.1 3 47 35
  • Huge INT by Asante Samuel
  • Amazing Jeremy Maclin catch to set up game winning FG
  • Amazing TD catch by Jason Avante that was tipped and almost intercepted
  • Trent Cole had another sack
  • 6 Game winning streak
  •

The negative parts of the game:

  • 20 to 7 halftime lead should be nailed down by long sustained drives! The Eagles did not run the ball good enough and when they needed to hold the ball. McNabb had 29 of the 105 rushing yards. It’s okay that McNabb added 29 yards but not to just 76 rushing yards from your backs
  • 3 turnovers. 2 fumbles and 1 INT is unacceptable. Especially at this time of year. The Eagles actually fumbled the ball 5 times but thankfully only lost 2. Macho Harris plopped 2 and lost 1 and McNabb dropped 3 and lost 1
  • Eagles only 2 for 5 in the Red Zone
  • Eagles defense had a solid day but they were poor in the Red Zone as Denver was 3 for 4 in the Red Zone
  • Eagles offense sputtered in the 2nd half as Denver made adjustments at halftime. No readjustments were made. Which you need to. But they did get the job done when they had too
  • 9 more penalties
  • I was worried about the up and down eagles O-line against a stout Denver D line. Elvis Dumervile had 2 sacks, Vonnie Holiday had a sack, and S Renaldo Hill added a 4th sack. But the Eagles front had tough moments with their front
  • There were times I thought D coordinator Sean McDermott overloaded the coverage on Brandon Marshall. Although with 3 of Denvers better receivers out it made sense to think Marshall would be leaned on. But the Eagles let guys like Jabar Gaffney toast you. And the tackling was horrid at times. On one Gaffney TD catch he was left wide open and then 3 Eagles converged on him and looked like the keystone cops
  • This game was closer in score than it was overall. But you can’t play with fire like that against the better teams. Denver is not that great of a team. But they don’t stink either. So it was a nice win

A win over Dallas next week can nail down the NFC East!
