Eagles Bearly Win, But Win (Eagles Nov 23)

The Stats show a more favorable story for the Eagles 24 to 20 win in Chicago. Truth the Eagles did play a solid balanced game on offense. The defense had its moments but the defense was also spared from some bone head throws from Jay Cutler. He missed some wide open receivers all night.

First the positives though:

• Philadelphia Passing

• Finally the Eagles actually ran the “Wildcat” like the Wildcat. Vick took the ball and ran like Ronnie Brown.

• The balance between rushing and passing benefited both! Shady McCoy looked terrific except on the fumble.
• Finally the Eagles actually ran the “Wildcat” like the Wildcat. Vick took the ball and ran like Ronnie Brown.

• DeSean Jackson had the awesome TD catch but also had an amazing 53 yard punt return.
• McNabb had a very good night at “home”.
• 7 for 15 on 3rd down conversion
• 2 fo 3 in the Red Zone
• Blocked a field goal attempt

The not so positive:

• The defense struggled  overall. There were too many coverage breakdowns in pass and rush defense and mental lapses.
• 3 turnovers
• 8 penalties
• Gave up 3 sacks and only got 1 sack

Questions:

• Why has it taken this long for the Vick run up the middle of the field call?
• Did Andy see himself in the mirror in the form of the Bears? Hey Andy and Marty do you see how much more difficult life is when you run a one dimensional offense? The Bears ran 43 pass plays and 20 runs. It hurt them. you know, they know it. and everybody knows it. Do you get it? No it doesn’t have to be 50/50 but they made Sean McDermotts job easier by being predictable, stupid and tipping their hand.
• I am worried about our defense. The Bears made it easier for you and you still had coverage problems. Why? Johnny Knox is not a great receiver why is he getting wide open. And again with the tight ends getting open on you.

In the end the Eagles survived another week. And they had to with Dallas stealing a win and the Giants eek one out in OT.
