Phillies Mania ANALYSIS
Comeback #15 capped off a 4 game sweep of the Washington Nationals in DC. Thanks again to a resilient “never give up” Phillies team who inched closer to the Mets who dropped one to the Giants Sunday night.

| Phillies | 3 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 3 | 0 | 8 | 10 | 0 « |
| Nationals | 3 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 6 | 9 | 1 |
Of course the Fightin’s had some help from sloppy pitching and defense from the offensive Nationals. And I mean offensive literally and figuratively. They can hit but they stink.
Chan Ho Park continued his see saw season by giving way to a 5 to 3 deficit barely into the 2nd inning. Which negated the 3 runs the Phillies gave Chan in the top of the first inning.
But before the Phillies took it on the Chan, the bullpen lassoed in the Nat’s the rest of the way. Ironically after all the innings in Friday and Saturday’s 3 games the Phillies had Jack Taschner pick up the slack for Park. It was ironic because he was the only Phillies pitcher on the regular roster to have not pitched Friday or Saturday. He last pitched on May 13th. So his 2 and 2/3 innings were a welcome sight. And he delivered.
Chad Durbin added his solid 2 innings and he was followed by new arrival Sergio Escalona who arrived in DC Sunday. It was Sergio’s Major League debut. Escalona pitched a quality inning and then Scott Eyre mopped up the 8th and 1 out in the 9th. The newly confident Brad Lidge came in and finished off the game for his 7th save of the young season.
The Phillies offense only had 8 hits and 6 RBI’s. Victorino’s 1st inning double was the first blow for the Phillies. The game was then is Washington’s corner until the 4th inning when the Phil’s tied the game 5 to 5.
Durbin gave up a run in the 6th and the Phillies fell behind. Deja vu? Then in the 8th Pedro Feliz attempted to bunt his way and and Washingtons Colome made an errant throw that allowed 2 runs to score and Philadelphia never looked back.
