Randy Wolf tamed the Phillies alright. However the fact is the offense is back in a drought. Other than the Tuesday and Wednesday in LA, and Thursday in Colorado the Phillies offense has flat out stunk since August 19th!  It’s a wonder they have put together some wins. They scored 8 runs total in the 3 game series with Milwaukee.

 

 

They even gained a game on Atlanta!

He isn’t even Jekyll and Hyde anymore he is barely Hyde. And he should be pissed, ashamed, and downright critical of himself. For starters he has the 4th highest run support of any NL pitcher for the season! Secondly he worked his butt of to make the team and has squandered his chances.

 

 

 

Oh he has had some great starts but his consistency is as if he is pitching while blindfolded. I have been a Kyle supporter and cheerleader and really thought he had some ability. It appears he does not have the mental make up to be a big boy pitcher though. No he is not stupid. He just cannot perform on the big boy stage with authority and discipline.

 

 

With this Thursday off, Charlie will probably skip his start when play resumes Friday. And the other guys could use the rest in workload.

 

 

OFFENSE:

 

• 7 Hits and 4 Walks

• Rollins had a hit

• Utley was 2 for 4

• Polanco had a hit and a walk

• Howard had a walk

• Werth had a double and a runscored

• Victorino had a walk

• Francisco had a hit and a run scored

• Ruiz had the 2 RBI’s with a big double, he also walked

• Phillies were back to their incompetence with RISP – 2 for 7 with men in scoring position

• Stranded 8

 

 

 

OTHER NOTES: For you youngsters out there I hope you saw the throw and tag by Werth and Ruiz because it was fundamentally sound as can be!

 

1. The way Werth set himself up for a throw was perfect

2. Werth threw an on line ball right at the cut off man line up for home

3. He one hopped it to Ruiz which is far easier to handle

4. Ruiz, naturally had to receive the ball while looking toward right with a a runner coming on his blind side so notice he placed his left foot at the sliding angle of the runner to block the plate

5. Then when Ruiz caught the ball he transfered the ball in his glove along the ground so he would tag the runner on the part of his body that would be reaching the plate first! Too many times you will see a throw arrive and the player tagger too high on the body and the runners leg or arm beat the tag!

6. Oh and of course Ruiz held the ball with 2 hands!
